The cutest moments between Selena Gomez and The Weeknd

The pair called the most controversial couple of 2017 also happens to be one of the cutest.

Only two months after The Weeknd's break up with Bella Hadid, he and former Disney Channel actress Selena Gomez created a stir when their romance became public in January.

From steamy make-out sessions caught by TMZ and romantic European trips, INSIDER takes a look at all the cutest couple moments between the two stars and why their romance doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon.  

December 2015: The Weeknd praises Selena Gomez at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

About a year before the two were rumored to be dating, The Weeknd – whose real name is Abel  Tesfaye – sent some appreciation Gomez's way while onstage at the annual lingerie fashion show.

Unfortunately for Hadid, she didn't participate in the show that year or things may have played out differently. The Weeknd's gesture seemed to foreshadow what was yet to come between the two singers. According to Hollywood Life, The Weeknd had always had a thing for Gomez since they met in 2015. 

“There was chemistry between them back then, but The Weeknd was with Bella at the time. Had he been single he would have pursued Selena. He was really quite taken with her beauty and down-to-earth nature. Since then he’s always had a thing for her.”

January 2017: The Weeknd and Gomez took a romantic trip to Italy. 

Just a few weeks after sparking romance rumors, The Weeknd took Gomez to Florence, Italy. While there, he reportedly rented out an entire restaurant for a private dinner. The two then took on the Uffuzi Gallery in Firenze, Italy where The Weeknd posted a sweet picture of Gomez admiring the Botticelli’s Venus painting. 

February 2017: Gomez casually supported The Weeknd on the European leg of his "Starboy" world tour.

Gomez has no problem supporting her man, and of course doing it in heels. The "Bad Liar" singer posted this picture via Instagram while watching The Weeknd's concert back in February. She also posted a video of herself backstage while cheering the singer on.

April 2017: The couple took on Coachella together and finally made their relationship official.

 Gomez didn't care to post a caption, but clearly her followers understood the message. The pair was seen at the Coachella music festival in April, where they were caught canoodling on several occasions. 

May 2017: "Abelena" made their red carpet debut at the 2017 Met Gala.

The couple didn't shy away from public displays of affection on New York City's Met Gala red carpet in May. According to Us Weekly, Gomez couldn't wait to show off their relationship in public. 

"She wants the world to know they're together," a source told the magazine. "She only does that when she's really dating someone."

June 2017: And most recently, watch a cute video of Gomez holding onto to The Weeknd after his concert in New York City.
