  • She also shared that she doesn't plan on doing more film projects in the near future.

Almost a year since she
filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie opened up about the experience in an interview with Vanity Fair. She also revealed in the same interview that she was diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy, a condition resulting from nerve damage which causes one side of the face to droop.

Jolie was reticent about the exact catalyst of her divorce from Pitt, but did say that moving into her new Los Feliz home after spending nine months in a rental has helped her children cope with the change.

“They’ve been very brave,” Jolie said. “They’re not healing from divorce … they’re healing from some … from life, from things in life.”

Jolie added that the former couple’s global lifestyle did not play a part in their split, as some have suggested. “[Our lifestyle] was not in any way a negative,” she said. “That was not the problem. That is and will remain one of the wonderful opportunities we are able to give our children…They’re six very strong-minded, thoughtful, worldly individuals. I’m very proud of them.”

She also opened up about her medical condition, but did not speak about the cause. She said acupuncture helped her recover from the illness. “I actually feel more of a woman because I feel like I’m being smart about my choices, and I’m putting my family first, and I’m in charge of my life and my health. I think that’s what makes a woman complete,” she said.

Jolie spent the past year working on “First They Killed My Father,” a documentary about Loung Ung, one of Jolie’s first friends in Cambodia, her adoptive country. Jolie adopted her first child Maddox from Cambodia, and became a citizen of the country. Her experiences there inspired her to begin extensive humanitarian work. The film centers around Ung’s experiences under the Khmer Rouge regime.

With six children to manage and “First They Killed My Father” coming to Netflix this month, Jolie said she doesn’t have any plans to embark on any more film projects. “I’m just wanting to make the proper breakfast and keep the house. That’s my passion,” she said. “At the request of my kids, I’m taking cooking classes. As I go to sleep at night, I think, Did I do a great job as a mom or was that an average day?”
