So your wedding is coming up.
It’s important to let your bride-to-be bask in the limelight but don’t forget what is equally important to her.
Being a well dressed groom during your special day.
Let’s face the facts.
Men have a hard time picking out the perfect outfit for his wedding.
Ensuring that the best version of yourself is visible is no easy task when everyone in your family is trying to have a say.
As difficult as it may seem it is critical you get it right as days like these pretty much come once in a lifetime.
The good news is that most things are possible with some effort.
I am here to present you with 5 tips on how to dress for your wedding day. This list may not be the most in-depth but it doesn’t have to be.
The core elements are here to ensure you are setup for success and make your future bride one happy lady.
1. Be the Best Looking Man You Can Be On Your Wedding Day
Sounds simple doesn’t it?
However, you will quickly realize that this subtle tip is actually extremely powerful.
First off, we can’t change how we look.
We are all unique creatures and as men, have to work on the packaging to really set us apart.
Change the things that you can change, which is the key message I try to portray at Real Men Real Style.
The key aspect of our appearance that is rather easy to change is our clothing.
In fact, clothing is the single most important thing to get right to ensure you are the best man that you can be.
Dressing sharp on your wedding day is a sign of respect. Not just to your partner but to all the guests surrounding you sharing this special occasion together.
Equally important is the pictures.
Pictures of your wedding day will last a lifetime so ensure you look sharp so you don’t have the look of shame every time the albums comes out in the future.
2. A Groom Should Start Buying His Wedding Clothing Early
Another critical tip for men on their wedding day is to begin preparations at least 90 days before the big day.
Why is that you say?
There are two main reasons for this:
- You Will Save Money – I own a custom tailor shop and the man who comes in a few weeks before his wedding ends up spending more. This results in having to make the work a priority over others, overtime costs and possible mistakes from a rushed order. All can be easily avoided with some upfront planning.
- You Will Avoid Stress – There is enough stress you deal with during your wedding, don’t make your outfit one of them. Choosing and purchasing your outfit a few months ahead will go along way in reducing stress.
3. A Groom Should Practice Wearing the Clothing He’ll Wear on His Wedding Day
Now that you have your outfit picked out it’s time to practice wearing it.
What I mean by this is actually putting your clothing on and wearing it for a bit. Feel free to wear it around the house to get comfortable with it on or even during a day at work.
Just be careful not to damage the outfit in any way!
If you can, choose a suit over a tuxedo as it will provide you with the luxury of wearing it outside in public. You will also have a piece of clothing that will last you many years.
If you buy a new pair of shoes for your wedding also ensure that you break these in prior. There is nothing worse than sore, uncomfortable feet!
4. Decide on a Dress Code for Your Wedding
Deciding on a dress code is important and it’s best practice that you announce it to your guests as early as possible.
Make sure you point out both the type of outfit expected such as black-tie, semi-formal, etc. to the environment the guests will be in. This can range from a place of worship to a beach destination.
Both environments offer extremely different dress codes so ensure this information is included in the invitation.
5. Communicate with the Bride-to-Be About Wedding Clothing Preparations
Don’t mistake the importance of this tip just because it is last on my list.
This pointer is extremely critical!
Your woman is an important part of the preparation of your wedding but be sure to add your input as well.
Offer direction and guidance to your groomsmen in terms of what clothing they should wear right up to the accessories.
Once you do, make sure you have this communicated to her. If you have done your research and have taken “the bull by the horns” she should be onboard with this.
Communication is key in life. Besides, taking part in a wedding that you feel have directly contributed to makes it that much better.
In conclusion – you can be the best dressed man on your wedding day by following these 5 tips and putting in some effort.
As a result – you will have a day your bride, family and yourself can cherish for a lifetime.
