lollapalooza music festival chicago 2009Getting tickets for the biggest concerts and events is a difficult task in 2016.

Gone are the days of buying a ticket at the door. With scalpers ready to jump on tickets as soon as they’re released, only to put the seats on sale minutes later for four times what they paid, in many cases the only way you can get tickets is if you’re ready to click "purchase" just as quickly as the scalpers are.

For this reason, we’ll be using this space to highlight buzzworthy shows with tickets you should try to snag before the scalpers do.

Kanye West

I may not be the best confidant to go to when questioning how much to spend on Kanye West tickets. I have seen Yeezy onstage (I think) 12 times in my life now, and will be seeing him for the thirteenth time this October. To me, he’s always perfect.

Tickets for his Saint Pablo Tour are already out on presale, so if you have an American Express card, I highly recommend you jump on them now before they’re all gone. Those without an Amex card will have to wait until tomorrow morning to get their shot at seats. If you enjoy his music, Kanye is a must-see act. He’s unlike any other performer onstage.

Prophets of Rage

Supergroups take many forms, but I am hard-pressed to think of one that I was more immediately on-board with than Prophets of Rage. Featuring Tom Morello and other members of Rage Against the Machine, Chuck D from Public Enemy, and Cypress Hill’s B Real, this is an actual all-star team of rap rock.

While speaking with Rolling Stone magazine, Morello described the band as “An elite task force of revolutionary musicians determined to confront this mountain of election year bullshit, and confront it head-on with Marshall stacks blazing." If you need to vent, this is the show to go to.

Blind Pilot

Blind Pilot was a band a high-school girlfriend showed me, so I will admit I was predisposed to thinking they were amazing. But if you’re into acoustic guitars and an earnest, crooning voice somewhat comparable to “I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning” era Bright Eyes, Blind Pilot is probably your new favorite band. A while back they toured California by bicycle, which is pretty amazing. Now I’m just hyped to see they’re making pretty songs and playing them across the country for people lucky enough to see them. Enjoy.
